Asked about Keeping a model working after launch

What do you need to version to reproduce a model?

An answer that works

Code, data, hyperparameters and environment. Data is the one people omit and the one that makes reproduction impossible, so datasets need a content hash or an immutable versioned path.

Then they push further

We version the model file itself. Is that not enough?

It lets you serve the old weights again and nothing else. You cannot say why they behaved differently, cannot rebuild them, and cannot produce a like-for-like comparison with the replacement, so the model is effectively frozen: whatever it does now is what it will always do.

Reading an answer is not being able to give one. The section that teaches this is Keeping a model working after launch, 5 hours of MLOps & model lifecycle.
