Asked about What a neural network is
Which loss would you use for multi-class classification?
An answer that works
Cross-entropy, usually with softmax at the output. It penalises confident wrong predictions heavily, which is the behaviour you want, whereas squared error treats a confidently wrong answer too gently.
Reading an answer is not being able to give one. The section that teaches this is What a neural network is, 5 hours of Neural networks.
