Asked about Requests, status codes and headers
What is the difference between 401 and 403?
An answer that works
401 means the request was not authenticated, so the credentials are missing or invalid. 403 means authentication succeeded but the caller is not permitted to do this. One is a credentials problem, the other a permissions problem.
