Asked about Vectors, matrices and what a multiply means
What does a dot product tell you?
An answer that works
How aligned two vectors are. It is the sum of elementwise products, and dividing out the magnitudes gives cosine similarity, which compares direction only. It underlies embedding search, ranking and attention.
Reading an answer is not being able to give one. The section that teaches this is Vectors, matrices and what a multiply means, 6 hours of Linear algebra.
